No Christmas 2024 photos.
I had hoped to get out and about to take some new photographs here in the Scottish Borders over the last week but the weather has been grey, my feet hurt and the car is misbehaving. Maybe next week but there a few weather systems rolling in so we’ll have to wait and see. Instead here’s a picture from our week in Italy in April.
It was my first week off with the new (to me) camera and a glorious place to take pictures but I had competition from one of my sons who also took a keen interest in the art of photography. I still remember my dad showing me how to use and slr and developing films in the dark room, not that I think I could do the latter without some serious research now, so I was happy to indulge his interest. Regardless it was a trip that reignited my love of Italy and the joy of photography with whatever camera was available.
We flew to Naples on a Tui flight only arrangements and stayed at two AirBnB’s, the first in Sant’Agnello on the outskirts of Sorrento and the second in Nerano on quite Western edge end of the Amalfi Coast. We explored Pompei (which is free on the first Sunday of every month - a happy accident), took a boat trip along the Amalfi Coast, drove the Amalfi coast, bumped into a 1000 Miglia car rally in Sorrento, swam in the sea and enjoyed the local food and drink. It was a wonderful trip and great to get some spring sun. If anybody wants to hear more about the trip please reach out.
In 2025 I hope to take the camera to Europe again, probably late May after the boys exams, and also visit Knoydart at a similar time of the year. Beyond that I hope to learn new things about taking pictures and, feet willing, get out and about much more with the camera. If the next week is still weathered off then perhaps I”ll reminisce about a couple of other trips last year
